Ventura Village Board of Directors Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 6:03pm by Chair Marti Maltby

Present: Elizabeth Ihde, Ray Peterson, Steve Dreyer, Marti Maltby, Thor Adam, Melanie Majors, Patti Peterson

Unexcused: Michelle Benson, Rico Morales

Motion: (Majors/P. Peterson) To approve the agenda for the October 11, 2023 meeting. Passed

Motion: (P. Peterson/Ihde) To approve the minutes for the September 13, 2023 meeting. Passed

Motion: (Adam/Majors) Recommendation 2310-1: Approval of 2024 Application for Network and Equitable Engagement Funds. Passed

Motion: Recommendation 2310-2: Approval to request an extension for the NRP Admin Contract to December 31, 2024. Duplicate action. No action taken.

Motion:  (Adam/Majors) Recommendation 2310-3: NRP MOTION: Move that Ventura Village request that the City of Minneapolis approve extension for Ventura Village NRP Contract 25585  to December 31, 2024. Passed

Motion: (Ihde/Majors) Recommendation 2310-4: Move to support the sale of the Dundree to Clare House and Southside Harm Reduction. Passed

Motion: (Adam/P. Peterson) Authorize up to $400 for food and drink for the Annual Meeting in December. Passed

Motion: (Ihde/Majors) Authorize up to $18 per month for Mailchimp emails. Passed

Motion: (Morales/R. Peterson) To approve the agenda for the July 12, 2023 meeting. Passed

Motion: (R. Peterson/Morales) To approve the minutes for the June 14, 2023 meeting. Passed

Motion: (R. Peterson/Dreyer) Recommendation 2307-1: Ventura Village submits the following summary of concerns titled “Ventura Village concerns regarding the proposed Native American Community Clinic proposed development project.” Amended to read: Ventura Village submits to NACC the following summary of concerns titled “Ventura Village concerns regarding the proposed Native American Community Clinic proposed development project” and we request for NACC to provide Ventura Village with a response to our concerns. Also removing the second sentence under building design and adding “We would like the City of Minneapolis to conduct a traffic study of East 21st Street that would evaluate the impact of adding traffic from the proposed development as well as traffic from the Aldi grocery store onto East 21st Street.” Passed

Ventura Village Board of Directors Meeting

Motion: (Morales/R. Peterson) To approve the agenda for the May 10, 2023 meeting. Passed

Motion: (R. Peterson/Dreyer) To approve the minutes for the April 12, 2023 meeting. Passed

Motion: (R. Peterson/Morales) Recommendation 2305-1: In concept Ventura Village supports expanding the Native American Community Clinic and developing housing on the west half of the Franklin Circles Shopping Center site with the following conditions:

1. The building is limited to 4 stories in height in compliance with the Ventura Village Master Plan.

2. More information is provided on setbacks

3. More information is provided on parking and auto access.

Motion: (Dreyer/R. Peterson) Recommendation 2305-2: To support ICCM’s annual event taking place August 17th in ICCM’s Life Center parking lot and August 18th in Peavey Park. Passed with amended dates
