Ventura Village General Membership Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7:07pm by Chair Marti Maltby
Those present at the meeting introduced themselves. Throughout the meeting 14 members attended. Kali Pliego (CPS) and Inspector Gomez gave the CCP/SAFE Crime & Safety Update. No one attended from the City Council office to give an update.

Motion: (Watson/Ihde) Approval of the March 13, 2024 proposed agenda. Passed (9 yes/0 no/1 abstain)

Motion: (Dreyer/Ihde) Approval of the February 14, 2024 minutes. Passed (7 yes/0 no/5 abstain)

Motion: (R. Peterson/Watson) To allocate $500 from Ventura Village’s undesignated funds to establish engagement of targeted groups (e.g. purchase of gift cards). Passed (14 yes/0 no/0 abstain)

Motion: (Ihde/Dreyer) Adjourn at 8:17pm. Passed (12 yes/0 no/0 abstain)

The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm by Chair Marti Maltby
Those present at the meeting introduced themselves. Throughout the meeting 14 members attended. Aarik Robertson and Dustin Goslin were there from Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures (MLCV) and presented Recommendation 2402-1. Rita Mwele – HC Probation Officer was there along with Crime Prevention Specialist (CPS) Kali Pliego who gave the CCP/SAFE Crime & Safety Update along with Lieutenant James Carroll. Khalid Mohamed was there from the City Council office and gave that update.

Motion: (Watson/Adam) Approval of the January 10, 2024 minutes. Passed (9 yes/0 no/1 abstain)

Nominee: Nardal Stroud. Passed (11 yes/0 no/0 abstain)

Motion: (Adam/Watson) Recommendation 2402-1: Move to support the Mille Lacs Mixed Use Project at 2224 Bloomington Avenue including any variances and zoning changes as necessary. Passed (11 yes/0 no/0 abstain)

Motion: (Watson/R. Peterson) Recommendation 2402-2: Move to approve the 2024 Equitable Engagement program budget and framework for the use of funds. Passed (10 yes/0 no/0 abstain)

Those present at the meeting introduced themselves. Throughout the meeting 12 members attended. Connor Machemehl – Probation, Telia Zoller – CPS 2nd Precinct, Rita Mwele – HC Probation Officer were there by Crime Prevention Specialist (CPS) Kali Pliego’s invite who gave the CCP/SAFE Crime & Safety Update along with Inspector Jose Gomez. No one from the City Council office attended.

Those present at the meeting introduced themselves. Throughout the meeting 12 members attended. Lieutenant Carroll and Crime Prevention Specialist (CPS) Kali Pliego gave the CCP/SAFE Crime & Safety Update. No one from the City Council office attended.

Lorna Hammonds declined to run. The others were voted on as a slate. Passed (12 yes/0 no/0 abstain)

Peterson/Ihde) Recommendation 2311-1: Due to reports from the city that the benches are unsafe and cannot be repaired, Ventura Village supports the Park Board’s request for the city to remove the seating area and the archway at the southwest corner of Franklin and Chicago Avenues. Passed (11 yes/0 no/0 abstain)

Motion: (Ihde/R. Peterson) Recommendation 2311-2: Move to send a letter to Becky Alper asking what the Park Board is going to do to get the field at Peavey Park back in use. Passed (11 yes/0 no/0 abstain)
